The pineapple hand grenade is a very common type of hand grenade in the military as it is easy to use and make, but at the same time lethal.

It is time delayed by about one second and to inflict maximum damage. The shell is divided into square sections by links running crisscross over the shall, so that when the grenade explodes, the squares are launched outwards like bullets.

These grenades work like this: a pin holds a striker by a notch on the striker(1). There is a spring constantly trying to push the striker into a primer at the bottom of the rube, but is held in place by the pin. The grenade is triggered by pulling out the pin. Without the pin, the striker will hit the printer casing the primer to light the fuse which burns down in one second to the detonator, activating it, igniting the explosive material and so set it off.
